Risk and risk management

The risk management and internal monitoring system is designed to give the Board of Directors insight into the status and the development of the management of significant risks to NS.

NS carries out risk analyses annually. We use these analyses to deduce significant risks to our organisation. We divide these risks into strategic, operational, financial, reporting and compliance risks.

Planning and monitoring cycle

The Board of Directors actively follows the significant risks and determines how they can be managed. When making these considerations we look for consistency between the reliable and safe provision of services to customers, visitors and employees, and the implications for the financial and general position of NS.

Reporting of the risks by the various divisions to the Board of Directors is an integral part of the planning and monitoring cycle. The Board of Directors reports on and transfers accountability for the risk management system to the Board of Commissioners after discussing it with the Board's Audit Commission.
