Customer rates 2015

NS is happy to serve you by providing insight into the various types of tickets and season tickets. The prices change each year.

Reasons for price increases

NS pays the railway management company ProRail for the use of the rail network. The costs for this service increase over time, as do the consumer prices. NS strives to balance expenses and income, so the price of tickets must be raised from time to time.

  • journeys made via travel on account using an OV-chipkaart;

Long distance discount on the OV-chipkaart

If you travel using an OV-chipkaart, then you pay the same price for your journey as you would with a single-use chipkaart or e-ticket. A € 1 supplement is charged when purchasing a single-use chipkaart.

In the past, a journey with more than one train company was less expensive with separate train tickets than with an OV-chipkaart. But as the long distance discount (discount per kilometre) is also applicable to journeys on more than one train company using an OV-chipkaart, this situation has been rectified.

The long distance discount goes into effect starting at 40 kilometres. The prices per transport company may differ, resulting in a price difference between your outbound journey and your return journey. You can calculate the exact price of your journey using the travel planners at and
