Consumer Rates 2016

The prices of several NS products are being changed in 2016. The rate changes are based on the expected rate of inflation for 2016 (1.2%). Moreover, the compensation for the use of the railway network that NS pays to railway network manager ProRail will be increased as well. In 2016, NS will cover part of this increase from increases to the ticket rates.
Which products will have their prices changed?
On NS routes, the rates for the following products will increase by 2.09% as of 1 January 2016:
- Journeys made with travel on account using an OV-chipkaart (one-way and return and day tickets)
- Journeys made with an NS-Business Card
- Single-use chipkaart purchased at an NS Ticket Machine or the NS Service Desk
- E-tickets purchased via the NS webshop
The rates for the following season tickets will increase by an average of 2.20% as of 1 January 2016:
- Traject Vrij season ticket
- Altijd Vrij season ticket
- NS-Business Card with Traject Vrij season ticket
NS-Business Card with Trein Vrij season ticket
The prices are rounded off to the nearest € 0.10, so some tickets may differ in price by a greater or lesser amount.
The Weekend Vrij season ticket 2nd class will increase to € 32 per month, but the season ticket will be valid for a longer time period. And starting on 1 January 2016, travelers with a Weekend Vrij season ticket will be able to travel for free on national holidays as well.
Finally, the supplement for the ICE and IC direct will be increased by € 0.10 to € 2.40 for both train types in both 1st and 2nd class.

No price increases
The prices for the season tickets Dal Voordeel, Altijd Voordeel, Dal Vrij and Kids Vrij will remain unchanged in 2016, as will the price of the NS-Business Card with Dal season ticket.
As of 1 January 2016, the combined travel discount will be divided into the current peak and off-peak periods, and will be valid on week days before 6.30, between 9.00 and 16.00 and after 18.30 when you check in with a personal OV-chipkaart (minimum balance € 10). No time limits apply at the weekend or on holidays.
