Already completed

In September 2013, the renovation of Tilburg station began. Tilburg station now handles 30,000 passengers per day and that number will have grown to 40,000 by 2020. In order to improve accessibility and flow of pedestrians, since 2016 the station has had a wide tunnel under the tracks, with new entrances and plazas on the Spoorlaan side and the neighbourhood Theresia side. To attract passengers, this underpass has various shops, a waiting area and facilities.

There are also new staircases to all the platforms, as well as lifts and escalators. The new spacious and light station concourse is also a free thoroughfare between the north side (the neighbourhood Theresia and the rail zone where construction is proceeding at full pace) and the city centre. The connection between the north and south sides has also been improved by the commissioning of the new passageway on the Willem II-straat, specially for pedestrians and cyclists going under the tracks.
