How the OV-fiets works

In order to use an OV-fiets, you must have a season ticket. You can easily arrange this season ticket online, and link it to your OV-chipkaart. You no longer have to pay any fees for an OV-chipkaart season ticket. We charge €0.01 per year in order to verify your personal and payment details.

Renting an OV-fiets

You can rent an OV-fiets from various locations. The OV-fietsen are always ready to use. If something is not working properly, then you can swap your OV-fiets for another one within 15 minutes at no extra cost.

Returning an OV-fiets at a different location

If you would like to return your OV-fiets to a different location than where you rented it, then you will be charged a € 10 fee.

Adjusting your OV-fiets

We recommend checking the tyre pressure and the lights prior to departure. You can pump up the tyres at the storage area. You can raise or lower the saddle on the OV-fiets using the quick-release lever. You do not need any tools to do this.

All OV-fietsen are fitted with puncture-proof tyres. As a result, the chance that you will get a puncture is reduced considerably. If this happens anyway, bring the OV-fiets back to the bicycle storage area where you rented it and it will be repaired for free. If you have the puncture repaired by a different bicycle mechanic, then the costs will not be reimbursed.

Renting an OV-fiets

Using the OV-fiets costs € 3.85 per 24 hour period. If you keep the OV-fiets for longer, then you are charged for additional rental periods (up to a maximum of 72 hours). For time exceeding 72 hours you pay a € 5 surcharge per 24 hours. You receive an invoice for use of the OV-fiets every month via email and payment is made via direct debit.
