King's Day in Groningen
This year, the Royal Family will be visiting Groningen for King's Day. A perfect opportunity to celebrate the King's birthday in Groningen!
Groningen will be celebrating King's Day with music and flea markets in the city centre and along the canals. Look for bargains at the traditional flea market, or enjoy one of the many musical performances.
The city centre is located a short 15-minute walk from the station.
This year is a special year for Groningen, as King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima will be celebrating King's Day in the city together with their family. Read about the programme for their 2-hour stroll through the city here.
For the 2nd year in a row, the city will host the royal Helden van Oranje sing-along festival in the Stadspark Drafbaan on the evening of 26 April. On King's Day itself, the park will be the venue for the Kingsland Festival Groningen. The Stadspark is located within a 25-minute walk from Groningen station.
You must purchase a ticket in advance to gain admission to these festivals.
On 27 April 2018, His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will attend the King's Day celebrations in Groningen, together with their family.
