King’s Day 2022
On Wednesday, April 27, the Netherlands is celebrating King’s Day! Will you be going to one of the many events organised across the country on the day itself or on King’s Night? Take the train to your King’s Day destination!
Most King’s Night and King’s Day festivities can easily be reached by train. On those days, trains will according to our so-called Orange timetable. We will be scheduling more, longer trains to get you to your favourite King’s Day party. The departure times and platforms might be different from what you’re used to, or you might have to change trains. Some trains will terminate at a different station that you are used to. Please take into account that the trains and stations will be extra crowded. Plan your trip in the NS app before leaving home.
On Tuesday evening, April 26, and Wednesday, April 27, we will take several measures at the stations to make sure that everyone can travel safely and responsibly.
The Amsterdam RAI and Amsterdam Science park stations will be closed on King's Day. You can still travel via Amsterdam Zuid station and Amsterdam Amstel station.
Plan your return trip
Returning late in the evening? Plan your return trip in advance and check again shortly before departure. Don't gamble on the last train. It is often very crowded. On the night of Wednesday to Thursday, normal service will resume as usual.
Passengers may not bring, drink or distribute alcohol at stations or on trains throughout the country during King's Night and King's Day. The alcohol ban will start on 19:00 on Tuesday evening, 26 April and end on 07:00 on Thursday morning, 28 April. Catering establishments and shops at the stations will not sell alcohol during this time.
The luggage lockers at the stations below will be closed from 19.00 on Tuesday, 26 April until 7.00 on Thursday, 28 April. You will not be able to store luggage in or pick up luggage from the lockers during this time.
