Better connections

  • In Zwolle, the Intercity from Groningen will connect to Blauwnet trains to Enschede.
  • You will no longer need to go to Deventer for the fastest connection. This saves approximately 5 minutes. Please remember to check out and in again when changing carrier.

    Extra trains on working days

  • On working days, 4 trains will be running between Leeuwarden and Meppel each hour rather than 3. The Sprinter Leeuwarden - Meppel will run twice per hour. The Intercity Leeuwarden - Zwolle - Utrecht Centraal - Rotterdam Centraal will also stop in Meppel. If the Sprinter Leeuwarden - Meppel is not running, the Intercity’s will also stop at the other stations between Leeuwarden and Zwolle late in the evening. The Intercity Leeuwarden - Zwolle - Almere Centrum - Den Haag Centraal will no longer stop in Akkrum, Grou-Jirnsum and Wolvega.

    Extra trains on the weekend

  • On Saturday and Sunday until approximately 22.00, 3 trains will be running between Leeuwarden and Meppel each hour rather than 2. The Sprinter Meppel - Leeuwarden will run once per hour.

    Other regional railway carrier East Netherlands

    The train service Zwolle-Kampen will be taken over by Keolis Nederland (previously Syntus). The new Zwolle station will be opened on this route.

    The train service Zwolle - Enschede will also be taken over by Keolis Nederland. On this route, the new express train Raalte - Enschede will be introduced.

    The Keolis Nederland trains on the Zwolle - Kampen, Zwolle - Enschede and Zutphen - Oldenzaal routes and the Arriva trains on the Zwolle - Emmen and Almelo -Mariënberg routes will run under the new brand name Blauwnet. All season tickets and NS tickets will be usable on Blauwnet trains. Please remember to check in and out with the right carrier.
