How to rent an OV-ebike
Make sure you have a free OV-fiets season ticket or Flex season ticket on your personal OV-chipkaart Also, check how many electric OV-fiets bikes are available in advance in the NS app
- Visit station Driebergen-Zeist, Arnhem Centraal, Groningen or Maastricht.
- Grab an OV-ebike and scan your OV-chipkaart with a staff member.
- Adjust the saddle to the correct height.
- Press the on/off button on the bar for 3 seconds and you are ready to go!
Always return the OV-ebike to the same location. And view your journeys and charges in Mijn NS.
Where to rent an OV-ebike?
You can currently rent an OV-ebike at 4 stations: Driebergen-Zeist, Arnhem Centraal, Groningen or Maastricht.
How much does it cost to rent an OV-ebike?
Rent an OV-ebike for € 13 per day (24 hours). After 3 days (72 hours) you will pay € 5 per day extra. You can rent the OV-ebike for a maximum of 21 days. Charges are automatically debited from your account every month. Easily view the charges in Mijn NS on the NS-app.
All OV-ebike information at hand
Download the NS app, so that you always have all OV-ebike information at hand. For example, you can see if your ride has been properly completed and check how many electric OV bikes are available at your station.
How to activate your OV-ebike information
- Open the NS app
- Go to More and click on Mijn NS.
- Log in with your 'Mijn NS' account.
- Link your OV-chipkaart to an active OV-fiets or Flex season ticket.
- Enter the bike number once of the OV-ebike you are renting. We will use the number to verify that you are the cardholder.

Why is the rate for the OV-ebike being increased to €13 starting from October 5th?
Last year we started renting out public transport ebikes at 4 stations (Arnhem, Driebergen-Zeist, Groningen and Maastricht) for the competitive price of €10 per 24 hours. This allowed us to introduce many travelers to an electric public transport bicycle and gave us insight into customer needs and operational costs. We will increase the rate from October 5th, 2023 to € 13 per 24 hours because this rate is more in line with the market and covers costs.

Can I reserve an OV-ebike online?
No, you cannot reserve an OV-ebike online. However, you can check availability in the NS app.

How can I check how many OV-ebikes are still available?
You can check using the In de buurt map in the NS app and on the website ov-fiets.nl/huurlocaties.

How do I pay for an OV-ebike?
You can rent an OV-ebike using a personal OV-chipkaart with a free OV-fietsabonnement or a Flex season ticket. The costs for using the OV-ebike will be debited from your bank account at the end of the month.

Can I rent more than one OV-ebike at the same time?
Yes, you can rent a maximum of two OV-ebikes at one time.

I wasn't able to turn in the key. What can I do about it?
Please lock the OV-ebike using both locks, and place the key in the blue drop box. If possible, lock the OV-ebike to a rack or pole to prevent it from being stolen. Call customer service to close the journey and end the OV-ebike rental.
