What is WPM?
Work-Related Personal Mobility (WPM) is part of the Climate Agreement. With this scheme, the government aims to reduce CO2 emissions from commuting and business travel.
By collecting travel data annually, the government gains insight into national work-related mobility emissions and can track whether climate targets are being met or whether additional measures are needed.
Who does the WPM apply to?
The WPM currently applies to employers with 100 or more employees. The government is working on a proposal to raise this threshold to 250 employees. Until this change takes effect, the current rules apply.
What do you need to submit to comply with the WPM?
Does your organization fall under the WPM? Then you submit the required travel data annually to the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO).
You report:
the number of kilometers for commuting;
the number of kilometers for business travel;
the mode of transport used;
for car trips, the type of fuel.
Good to know: you only report aggregated (combined) data, such as the total number of kilometers traveled per mode of transport. Employees' personal travel data is not shared with the government.
