Cancellation of the BTM subscriptions
Our bus, tram, and metro partners have informed us that they will be discontinuing BTM subscriptions. As a result, the BudgetZeker BTM, and BTM Vrij subscriptions will be discontinued at NS Zakelijk as of January 1, 2026. BTM products will no longer be available for order as of December 1, 2025. Of course, it will still be possible to travel with the NS-Business Card by bus, trams, and metro from January 1, 2026. Read more about the possibilities.
Please note: The OV Vrij subscription consists of a Trein Vrij subscription and a BTM Vrij subscription. Only the BTM Vrij subscription will be terminated.

Continue traveling by bus, tram and metro
Starting January 1, 2026, your employees can travel on account on buses, trams, and metro. This means that all journeys made will be charged to their monthly NS Business Card invoice. Do you use a train pass for train travel? This will continue to be available.
Activate travel on account
To use travel on account on buses, trams, and metro starting January 1, 2026, employees must activate this on their NS Business Card. This can be easily done by checking in at an NS train gate or post. They don't need to travel with NS; checking in and checking out a few minutes later is sufficient. Why can I no longer choose an BudgetZeker BTM or BTM Vrij subscription via the website or portal?
Our bus, tram, and metro partners have informed us that they will discontinue BTM subscriptions. The BudgetZeker BTM and BTM Vrij subscriptions will be discontinued as of January 1, 2026. Therefore, these products can no longer be ordered starting from 1 January 2026.
I get an error message when I try to order a BTM subscription
You've probably chosen a start date on or after December 1, 2025. Unfortunately, it's no longer possible to order a BTM subscription after that date.
Can my employees still travel by bus, tram and metro?
Naturally, your employees will still be able to travel by bus, tram and metro. Starting from 1 January 2026, your employees can travel on account by bus, tram and metro. This means that all of their travel history will be consolidated on the monthly NS-Business Card invoice. You will continue to use your current train subscription for train journeys. However, to be able to travel on account by bus, tram and metro from 1 January 2026, they will have to activate this on their NS-Business Card. They can do so easily by checking in at an NS train gate or card reader.
How do I activate travel on account on my NS-Business Card?
Do you currently have a BTM subscription and want to continue traveling by bus, tram, and metro after January 1? If so, it is important to visit an NS station between August 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, and check in at an NS gate or pole. You do not need to travel with NS; simply checking in and checking out a few minutes later is sufficient. Are you traveling with NS during this period? Then you will automatically pass through an NS train gate or pole when checking in. Travel on account will then be automatically activated. You don't need to do anything else.
Can my employees still use the gesplitst betalen service?
Do you use the Split Billing Service? Then you currently pay the costs for the BTM subscription as an employer.
This will change as of 1 January 2026, when all bus, tram and metro travel will be added directly to individual employee invoices. This is a regrettable but inescapable consequence of the discontinuation of BTM subscriptions.   
It is also important to know that Split Billing will be completely discontinued in 2026, with the exact date set to follow in due course. We recommend that you discuss these changes with those employee(s) who currently use Split Billing. We will also send them an e-mail informing them about this change in due course. 
What happens if I do not pass an NS train gate before January 1?
After January 1, 2026, you will no longer be able to travel by bus, tram, or metro with your current card. When you check in on a bus, tram, or metro, you will receive a notification that you have insufficient balance. Please go to an NS train gate or pole to activate travel on account. After activation, you will be able to travel by bus, tram, and metro again.
What happens if I order another BTM subscription now?
You can still order a BTM subscription until November 30. You can then travel with the BTM subscription until January 1, 2026. On January 1, 2026, this will automatically be converted to travel on account. This must be activated on the NS-Business Card. I am switching to NS-Business Collectief OV on January 1, 2026. What should I do now for new employees?
You can simply order an NS-Business Card for new employees. In December, they can travel by bus, tram, and metro on account. As of January 1, 2026, they will be able to travel freely within the NS-Business Collectief OV with BTM.
What happens if I switch to the NS-Business Collectief OV on January 1, 2026?
Your employees' NS Business Cards will be converted to the NS-Business Collectief OV as of January 1, 2026. The agreed BTM price will apply from January 1.
Hoe kan ik een abonnement op de NS-Business Card beëindigen?
As a contact person, you can terminate a subscription to your employee's NS-Business Card any day after the first month. You do this in Mijn NS Zakelijk under 'Manage cards and cardholders' and then by clicking on the card number.
Are you an employee and is the agreement within your organization that you as cardholder can also terminate your subscription? Then do so in Mijn NS Zakelijk under 'My NS-Business Card'.
Have you terminated a subscription in Mijn NS Zakelijk? Then the next step is to pick up the termination at an NS card machine at one of our stations. The person traveling with the NS-Business Card will receive an e-mail from us with more information about this.
