New terms and conditions

Why are we introducing new terms?

We are renewing the NS‑Business Card and Mijn NS Zakelijk. The terms explain how the renewed OV‑pass and the renewed Mijn NS Zakelijk work and which rules apply.

When do the new terms take effect?

The new terms apply as soon as we switch to the renewed Mijn NS Zakelijk. You will receive a message at least one month in advance with the start date and the final terms.

What happens to the current NS‑Business Card agreement?

The current agreement concerns NS‑Business Cards (OV‑chip card) and remains valid as long as your organisation still uses NS‑Business Cards based on the current technology (OV‑chip card).

The agreement ends automatically at the moment that all OV‑chip cards under that agreement have been replaced by the new NS‑Business Card as OV‑pass, or at the latest when OV‑chip cards in the Netherlands can no longer be used or no longer function (1 January 2028).

What are the main changes for my organisation?

  • With the new NS‑Business Card you will no longer have to visit a ticket machine to collect or cancel a subscription. If you change a subscription on the OV‑pass, this usually takes effect the same day.

  • The rules about “forgotten check‑in and check‑out” will change. You can find these in the Product Terms NS‑Business Card (OV‑pass). The current correction fares and conditions are always on our website: https://www.ns.nl/zakelijk/producten/ns-business-card/correctietarieven.

  • The correction fares will be adjusted; for example, the fee for unjustified first-class travel will increase. Check the rates on the website via the link above.

  • With the new NS‑Business Card a class change will still be possible for one day. Class changes for a fixed or indefinite period will no longer be available. If you currently use such a class change, you will be informed about this.

  • Employees can easily request a replacement NS‑Business Card (OV‑pass) themselves via the new Mijn NS Zakelijk — for example if they have lost their card or if it is damaged. They will no longer need to visit a machine. A replacement card costs €5.50 excluding VAT.

What changes in Mijn NS Zakelijk?

Mijn NS Zakelijk will become more user‑friendly and gain more functionality. You will be able to do more yourself, such as managing contact persons and settings.

What changes for contact persons?

Soon you will log in in one place using the email address linked to your account. If you are both a contact person and a cardholder, you will manage both your company’s cards and your personal account with the same email address. Central contact persons will be able to manage all contact persons and adjust settings in the new Mijn NS Zakelijk.

What changes for employees?

Employees will log in with their email address as usual. The new Mijn NS Zakelijk is clearer and easier to use. There are a few important changes for employees:

  • In case of loss or theft they will order a replacement card themselves via Mijn NS Zakelijk.

  • They will no longer need to visit a machine when their subscription changes.

  • If they receive a subscription on an OV‑pass that requires a passport‑style photo, they will upload the photo themselves.

  • They can set a class change for one day via the NS app.

When will my organisation switch to the new NS‑Business Card (OV‑pass)?

This varies by organisation. From autumn 2026, employees will receive a new NS‑Business Card as OV‑pass for new requests or replacements. The remaining cards will be replaced later. As soon as your organisation’s turn comes, we will inform you well in advance. It is expected that all cards will be replaced by 1 January 2028 at the latest.

Can I choose when my organisation switches?

Unfortunately not. Before 1 January 2028 everyone in the Netherlands will switch from the OV‑chip card to the OV‑pass. Because this is a complex process, we plan in advance when which organisations will switch to the new NS‑Business Card as OV‑pass. As soon as your organisation’s turn comes, we will inform you well in advance.

What do I need to do if I agree with the new terms?

Nothing. We will inform you before your organisation switches to the new NS‑Business Card and the new terms become applicable.

What if I do not agree with the new terms?

If you do not agree, you can contact us before the start date to terminate the agreement with NS. You will receive more information about this together with the final terms.
