What is NS Flex Dal Voordeel?
NS Flex Dal Voordeel is a subscription that gives you a 40% discount when travelling during off-peak hours, at weekends and on public holidays. At the moment, this subscription is free for young people between 12 and 18 years old.
Your child travels with a 40% discount during the following times:
- Off-peak hours: Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 16.00 and from 18.30 to 6.30.
- Weekend: From Friday 18.30 until Monday 4.00.
- Public holidays: All day.
Who orders the subscription?
Customers under 18 are not allowed to purchase this subscription themselves. An adult, for example a parent, guardian or grandparent, orders the subscription for you. This could be your mother or your grandfather. This person is called the contract holder.
The contract holder:
• pays for your journeys monthly by direct debit
• receives the invoice and can view your journeys in Mijn NS
• manages your subscription through their own NS account
Your child travels using their own OV-chipkaart with the subscription on it.
What changes when they turn 18?
When your child turns 18, the subscription automatically continues, including subscription costs of € 5.95 per month.
What do you get with NS Flex Dal Voordeel for youth?
Get on all public transport with 1 OV-chipkaart
With NS Flex you travel from door to door. For example by bus, tram or OV-fiets.
Always travel directly, without a train ticket
No more need for a separate train ticket. The contract holder pays the travel costs monthly in arrears.
Cancel or change monthly
Tried the season ticket? The contract holder can change or cancel after 1 month.

What happens to the season ticket when I turn 18?
The season ticket simply continues. The contract holder - the person who pays the invoices - pays subscription costs for NS Flex Dal Voordeel from the first contract month after your 18th birthday. For example, if you turn 18 on 16 May and your new contract month starts on 17 May, the season ticket will no longer be free from that date.
Do you want to pay for your season ticket yourself after your 18th birthday and manage your details via Mijn NS?

Does the offer also apply to buses, metro, trams and trains other than NS?
You also get a 40% discount during off-peak hours, weekends and public holidays on trains from other carriers. You travel without discount on buses, metros and trams.

I'm missing the Off-Peak Young Person's Day Ticket. What's a good alternative?
We have several options for you:
- NS Flex Dal Voordeel season ticket. Are you 12 to 17 years old? Then you pay € 0 subscription costs. You travel at 40% off during off-peak hours and on weekends. Your check-in time applies; the discount on your travel costs does not apply if you check in during peak hours.
- Co-travel discount. Ask a season ticket holder for a co-travel code and travel together. You travel at 40% off during off-peak hours and on weekends. Your check-in time applies; the discount on your travel costs does not apply if you check in during peak hours.
- Off-Peak Group Ticket. Handy if you're traveling with 2 to 7 people. The more people travel, the cheaper everyone travels. Starting at € 36 for a total of 2 people.

We no longer sell the Off-Peak Young Person's Day Ticket as of 1 July 2025.
If you purchased a Off-Peak Young Person's Day Ticket, it is valid for the entire day on the day you selected during purchase. -
My child has Kids Vrij. How do they switch to free NS Flex Dal Voordeel?
When your child turns 12, we will automatically stop that season ticket for you. You can then order NS Flex Dal Voordeel for young people yourself; put the season ticket on your child's OV-chipkaart. You will not pay any subscription costs until their 18th birthday.
Your child will travel with a 40% discount during off-peak hours, weekends and public holidays. You, as the contract holder, will pay the travel costs.
