R-net train service

NS operates under the R-net brand on the Alphen aan den Rijn – Gouda route. You travel on modern, comfortable trains with a dedicated team of service train drivers. This page provides all information about this route: from timetables and fares to accessibility and taking your bike on the train.

Timetable

  • Monday to Friday: every 15 minutes from 6.30 to 19.00
  • Weekends and weekdays after 19.00: every 30 minutes

All NS season tickets and tickets are valid. In addition, there are Gouwe products, such as the GouweTicket and the GouweTicket Fiets

Checking in and out

Travelling with reduced mobility

R-net trains feature level boarding, a sliding step and a wheelchair-accessible toilet. All stations between Alphen aan den Rijn and Gouda have ramps and level boarding.

From September 2024, NS Travel Assistance will be available at all stations along this route, even when no train conductor is on board.

Bringing your bicycle

You may bring your bicycle between Alphen aan den Rijn and Gouda. The rules are:

  • Off-peak hours: free (Mon–Fri before 6.30, 9.00–16.00, after 18.30)
  • Peak hours: GouweTicket Fiets required
  • Maximum of three bicycles per train unit
  • Loading and unloading at the bicycle door; hooks located behind the toilet
  • Aids such as adapted bicycles may be brought free of charge if they meet the NS Travel Assistance conditions
  • Fold-up bicycles are always allowed free of charge if folded

You can buy the GouweTicket Fiets at NS Ticket Machines at all stations along the route.

A dedicated team of service train drivers operates on this route. They are specially trained for this train series and are happy to assist you with any questions. They ensure a safe departure procedure and supervise on the train.

  • Cameras with feeds visible to the train driver in the cab
  • The service train driver can intervene immediately or request support from Service & Safety

Ticket checks

No train conductors operate on this route. NS deploys flexible Service & Safety teams for ticket checks. The gates at Gouda station are closed.
