Fake NS e-mails

Sometimes emails and text messages appear to come from NS but are actually fake. These phishing emails and texts are designed to collect personal information. The messages misuse NS’s name and logo to trick you into clicking a link, for example. If you click a link, fraudsters may gain access to your personal information.

How to spot a fake email

Internet criminals are becoming more skilled at creating fake messages. They still make mistakes, though. Common errors include:

  • The link in the email goes to a website that is not owned by NS
  • The greeting looks wrong and the email contains spelling mistakes
  • The offer in the email is too good to be true

How to spot a fake text message

We sometimes see internet criminals sending texts that claim to be from NS. NS never sends text messages from a mobile 06 number. If you receive a text claiming to be from NS from a 06 number, delete it immediately and do not click any links.

Criminals can also be active on social media such as Facebook and Instagram!

Warning: never call a 0900 number! NS will never ask you to call a 0900 number. The only exception is the number 0900-0980 for OV-chipkaart.
