Applying for jobs, going to a festival or visiting fellow students? After handing in your student travel product, travel more cheaply during off-peak hours. Whether you have graduated, stopped your studies or are continuing them for a while longer, we give you one year free of NS Flex Dal Voordeel.

As a former student, NS Flex Dal Voordeel gives you:

  • 40% discount during off-peak hours
  • 40% discount at weekends and on public holidays
  • 40% Co-travel discount during off-peak hours for three fellow travellers

Order a season ticket within six months

Note: Order NS Flex Dal Voordeel within six months of cancelling your student OV. Add your new season ticket to the OV-chipkaart that held your student travel product from 48 hours after you cancel.

Graduated, stopped studying or continuing your studies? After you hand in your Student Travel Product you can order Dal Voordeel free for one year. Here’s how to apply for NS Flex Dal Voordeel:

You can choose NS Flex Dal Voordeel. From now on you travel with 40% off during off-peak hours, at weekends and on public holidays. You also have the convenience of NS Flex:

  • Change or cancel each month
  • Check in without topping up your balance
  • Also travel directly by bus, tram and metro
  • OV-fiets and bicycle storage charged to your OV-chipkaart
  • Change to 1st class up to 15 minutes after check in
  • Automatic correction for missed check-outs

You can also choose a Dal Voordeel subscription on balance. You still get 40% off journeys by train in off-peak hours, at weekends and on public holidays.

  • Load balance before you travel; you pay before you travel
  • Minimum balance of € 10 on your OV-chipkaart
  • Co-travel discount: 40% off in off-peak hours for up to three companions

I'm a student / graduated: I can't order the free NS Flex Dal Voordeel. What can I do?

Sorry you cannot place the order. We have listed what you can try. Check:

  • Have you cancelled your Student Travel Product at DUO? You can only order NS Flex Dal Voordeel for free after the cancellation has been processed.
  • Have you entered the same OV-chipkaart number? NS Flex Dal Voordeel must be on the same OV-chipkaart as your Student Travel Product was previously on.
  • Did you place the order on the same day you cancelled your Student Travel Product? Try again a day later, by then the cancellation will have been processed.
  • Did you place the order at least 48 hours and within six months after cancelling your Student Travel Product?

Do I get OV discount after my studies?

Get a free NS Flex Dal Voordeel season ticket for one year. With the NS Flex Dal Voordeel season ticket you get 40% discount on journeys during off-peak hours and at weekends. This offer applies for up to six months after your Student Travel Product ends.

Do I still have a Student Travel Product if I stop studying?

Have you finished your studies? You no longer qualify for a Student Travel Product. You must cancel the Student Travel Product on your OV-chipkaart yourself at a collection machine .

Do this before or on the tenth day of the first month in which you no longer qualify for a Student Travel Product. If you cancel your Student Travel Product too late and continue to travel with it, you will receive a fine.

You do not need to hand in or throw away your OV-chipkaart. You can put another season ticket on your OV-chipkaart, such as a free NS Flex Dal Voordeel-season ticket for former students.

Why am I not eligible for the ex-student discount?

Order NS Flex Dal Voordeel within six months of cancelling your student OV (Student Travel Product). After that it is no longer possible to order it and you will not be eligible for the ex-student discount.
