Off-peak hours
The off-peak hours are on weekdays from 00:00 - 06:30, between 09:00 - 16:00 and between 18:30 - 00:00. You can also travel off-peak on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. NS has various travel products that let you travel for less during off-peak hours.
Single tickets and e-tickets during off-peak hours
Some train tickets and discounts, such as promo products and combo tickets offered by Spoordeelwinkel are only valid during off-peak hours. You can only use these products to travel during off-peak hours. The moment at which you check in therefore does not apply. So for example you can't start your trip at 15:55 and stay on the train during peak hours.
Season tickets
If you have a season ticket and travel during off-peak hours, you are entitled to a discount. The moment you check in determines the discount you will receive for the entire journey. If you check in five minutes before or during off-peak hours, and check out during peak hours, you are still entitled to an off-peak discount with NS.
Please note: this only applies if your train is scheduled to leave within 30 minutes after your check in, as laid down in the product T&Cs.
