Smart Mobility
Smart mobility is the future. That is why we are working together with the province and municipalities in Zeeland to explore the next steps:
Stations as hubs of mobility
Stations are the heart of a region, city or village. Together with the province of Zeeland, we are building a future-proof mobility system and working towards our shared ambitions. We look beyond the train and include other forms of transport, such as shared mobility.
We are working on:
- Developing stations into hubs of mobility and livability.
- Exploring possibilities at stations and identifying priorities.
- Improving station accessibility through smart door-to-door solutions.
Mobility Development
In Zeeland, NS collaborates with governments, schools, tourism and leisure providers, and transport operators such as Westerschelde Ferry and regional bus companies to develop a future-proof mobility system. Together, we seek smart and sustainable solutions to keep the region accessible and liveable.
What NS does:
- We work with social and recreational organisations and transport providers like Westerschelde Ferry to encourage visitors to travel comfortably and sustainably. Stations become the start and end point of experiencing a city or event, and we offer enjoyable day trips or weekend getaways, for example through the Spoordeelwinkel.
- We explore how to better serve specific travellers, such as residents, students and tourists. This requires innovation and collaboration.
Deployment of the national MaaS platform
- At the national level, we are developing a platform for Mobility-as-a-Service (MaaS). This will allow you to book and plan different modes of transport as a single journey.
- We are exploring what is needed to integrate transport options in Zeeland into MaaS applications, both technically and in terms of quality.
- Our goal is to encourage travellers to choose smart and sustainable travel alternatives.
