You buy the ticket at the NS Ticket Machine at the station. Do not forget to bring your personal OV-chipkaart. You use your personal OV-chipkaart to check in and out at the stations.

Traject Vrij Monthly Ticket for public transport

The Traject Vrij Monthly Ticket is valid with NS as well as other train operators in the Netherlands, excluding Nightjet and Eurostar. You can travel on Intercity direct and ICE International by paying an additional surcharge.

Can I get off at other stations?

You may get off at any station between your departure and arrival station. If you want to travel beyond your chosen route, please buy a separate ticket for that route. For unlimited travel, consider the Altijd Vrij Monthly Ticket or an NS Flex subscription.

Which class can I travel in?

When purchasing, you can select which class the monthly ticket will apply to.

Where can I buy the Traject Vrij Monthly Ticket?

You can only purchase the Traject Vrij Monthly Ticket at NS Ticket Machines located in stations.

How long can I travel with the Traject Vrij Monthly Ticket?

You can travel unlimited for the entire month on your chosen route. This applies during peak hours, off-peak times, weekends and public holidays.

  3. Select 'Monthly Tickets'

From which day is my monthly ticket valid?

The start date of your monthly ticket is always the date of purchase.

What is the difference between a monthly ticket and an NS Flex subscription?

A monthly ticket covers a fixed period and then ends. You pay the full amount upfront at the NS Ticket Machine when purchasing. This means no credit check is required.

NS Flex subscriptions run continuously, can be adjusted monthly, and let you pay afterwards on account. Monthly tickets do not offer this flexibility. NS Flex subscriptions are often cheaper.

Do I need to check in with the Traject Vrij Monthly Ticket?

Yes. You must check in and out with your personal OV-chipkaart for every journey you make with your Traject Vrij Monthly Ticket.
