Request Travel Assistance

Do you need help boarding, changing trains, or getting off? Our assistance staff are ready to help you. Below, you will find an explanation of how it works.

How to Request NS Travel Assistance

You can get assistance at every station where NS stops and on all NS trains. If you want to use travel assistance at a station served by another train operator, that is not a problem. You simply request it through us. Check the map or list below to see what services are available at your station.

You can arrange your travel assistance quickly and easily in the NS app or on ns.nl. There is no waiting or complicated steps involved. You also stay in control and clearly see the status of your requests and your journey.

Step One: Mijn NS account

Log in to Mijn NS. If you do not have an account yet, create one first.

Step Two: My assistance details

After logging in, enter your additional information for NS Travel Assistance, such as the mobility aid you use.

Step Three: Plan your journey

Activate travel assistance in the journey planner on the NS app, or use the planner at ns.nl/reisassistentie. You can also adjust your mobility aid here. Extra transfer time is already factored in, but you can modify this if needed.

Step Four: Select your station

Enter your departure and arrival stations, along with the date and time. Click ‘Plan your journey’, then select the journey you want to make.

For the best travel advice, request travel assistance no more than three days before your journey. Always request travel assistance at least one hour before departure.

Step Five: Book NS Travel Assistance

The journey overview shows where you need help boarding or alighting. Click ‘Book NS Travel Assistance’ to request assistance for this journey.

Step Six: Your journey overview

The final step shows an overview of your journey and travel assistance at each station. You may also be able to select a meeting point. At a fully accessible station, you can choose whether or not you want assistance. Click ‘Book NS Travel Assistance’ to finalise your request. You will then receive a confirmation email.

Passengers with a visual impairment

We offer extra assistance at several stations for passengers with a visual impairment. This is our 1 Step Further service. Our assistant provider will help you travel safely and comfortably to locations such as:

  • Bus, tram or metro stop
  • Official taxi rank
  • Pick-up and drop-off point at the station
