Renewing your NS-Business Card
You get a new NS-Business Card every 5 years. When your card expires, we can usually replace it automatically. It is important that you check your address in Mijn NS Zakelijk and in some cases you will have to upload a new passport photo.

Check your address
We will send your new NS-Business Card to your home address or your company’s contact person. Please check whether the address in your Mijn NS Zakelijk account is still correct. If you are unsure whether your card will be sent to your home or work, please check with your company’s contact person.
New passport photo
If you have a Trein Vrij or Traject Vrij season ticket, there will be a passport photo on your NS-Business Card. If you have given us permission to store your passport photo, you don’t have to do a thing. If you did not give us permission, please send us a new passport photo.
What applies to you?
I’m my companies NS contact person or the administrator of multiple NS-Business Cards.
The NS-Business Card has a lifespan of 5 years. What does this mean for you as a contact or administrator? You can see which company cards are about to expire in Mijn NS Zakelijk. In many cases, we’ll be able to replace the cards automatically, so you won’t have to do a thing.
Correct address information
To inform your employees and send them their new NS-Business Cards, it is important that the addresses in Mijn NS Zakelijk are correct, particularly if we are required by the contract to send the new cards to your employees at home.
Passport photo
Employees with a Trein Vrij or Traject Vrij subscription will have an NS-Business Card with a passport photo. If these employees give us permission to store their passport photos, nothing needs to be done. If they did not give permission, please ask your employees to send us a new passport photo. To find out which employees did not give permission, go to Mijn NS Zakelijk. Please note that we cannot renew your card without a valid passport photo, so you will not be able to travel with your NS-Business Card.
Three closed-ended NS-Business Cards
1. Personal NS-Business Card without a passport photo
  • Check your employee’s e-mail address and address details in Mijn NS Zakelijk. If everything is correct, you do not have to do anything else.
  • 4 weeks before your NS-Business Card is set to expire, we’ll send an e-mail to the address we have on file for your employee.
  • They will then receive their new NS-Business Card approximately 3.5 weeks before the expiry date of their current card at home or at work, depending on the type of contract your company has with NS.
  • The old card will remain valid until the expiry date.
2. Personal NS-Business Card with a passport photo
  • Check your employee’s e-mail address and address details in Mijn NS Zakelijk. If everything is correct, you do not have to do anything else, unless the card is to be sent to the company.
  • If an employee has not given us permission to store their passport photo or if the photo is no longer valid, we will request that they send us a new passport photo 8 weeks before the expiry date of the NS-Business Card. If your employee does not respond in time, you will receive a reminder e-mail 3 weeks before the expiry date of the card. Please note: without a valid passport photo, we cannot renew the card, so your employee will not be able to travel with the NS-Business Card!
  • If we do have a valid passport photo, we’ll send an e-mail to the address we have on file for your employee 4 weeks before the expiry date.
  • They will then receive their new NS-Business Card approximately 3.5 weeks before the expiry date of their current card at home or at work, depending on the type of contract your company has with NS. The old card will remain valid until the expiry date.
3. Department or company card
  • Your company has 1 or more department or company cards that are set to expire soon. Go to Mijn NS Zakelijk to check which card numbers have to be replaced.
  • We’ll send you an e-mail announcing the renewal of one or more department or company cards 4 weeks before the expiry date.
  • We’ll send the new NS-Business Cards to your company/department 3.5 weeks before the expiry date. The delivery location depends on what type of contract your company has with NS. For more information, go to Mijn NS Zakelijk. The old card will remain valid until the expiry date.

I'm a cardholder. What should I do when my NS-Business Card expires?
An NS-Business Card has a validity of 5 years. If you are an entrepreneur, you will receive a new card approximately 3.5 weeks before the expiry date. Check the advice below to receive the right card on time and at the right address.
1. Check your address in Mijn NS Zakelijk
We will send your new NS-Business Card to your private address or to the contact person of your organisation. Is your private address still listed correctly in Mijn NS Zakelijk? Do you not know whether you will receive your card at home or at work? Ask the contact person within your company.
2. If necessary, send a new passport photo
Do you have a Trein Vrij or Traject Vrij subscription? Then your NS-Business Card contains a passport photo. If you have given permission for the passport photo to be saved, you do not need to do anything. Did you not do so? Then we will send you a request to provide a new passport photo 8 weeks before the expiry date. A few weeks later, we will send you a reminder as an extra service. Please note: without a valid photo, we cannot renew your card and you cannot travel with your NS Business Card!
