Help at the NS Ticket Machine

If you need assistance and there is no NS employee nearby, our Customer Service is ready to help. You will find the free phone number and the machine number at the top right of the machine. These are also available in braille and raised print.

We can remotely guide you and provide immediate support, for example when loading credit or buying a ticket.

You can carry out the steps yourself while speaking to our staff or ask them to operate the machine while you watch. Our employees are available for you around the clock.

OV-chipkaart collection points

You can take care of your OV-chipkaart matters at many locations across the Netherlands. This includes topping up your balance, buying an anonymous OV-chipkaart, collecting an order or activating balance travel.

You can do this at the NS Ticket Machine and often at a nearby supermarket or tobacconist. The address finder shows all collection points in your area.

NS Tickets & Service shop and OV Service & Tickets shop

You can find an NS Tickets & Service shop or an OV Service & Tickets shop at several stations. These are useful if you prefer personalised service.

You can ask about your journey from door to door here. You can also buy a season ticket or a single-use OV-chipkaart.

There is a €1.50 surcharge on top of the regular OV-chipkaart fare for a single-use OV-chipkaart, payable at the counter and the NS Ticket Machine. On larger stations, our service staff are also available in the station hall and on the platform.

NS Service and Alarm Station

At stations with gates, you will find an NS Service and Alarm Station next to the gates. At stations without gates or service staff, the station is located on the platform.

You can contact an NS employee directly through the station 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The station has two buttons: the blue service button and the red alarm button (SOS).

The blue service button

Use the blue button for:

  • Requesting travel information
  • Questions about season tickets and tickets
  • Information about facilities at the station
  • Report defects or damage
  • Report lost or found items
  • Enquiries about passing through the gates

The red alarm button (SOS)

The red button is for emergencies. Pressing it connects you immediately to our security centre.

You can report unsafe situations or accidents. Emergency calls are handled in cooperation with the police and emergency services.

Easy access for travellers with reduced mobility

The station is accessible for travellers with reduced mobility. The buttons have Braille labels, and the speaking section is easily reachable for wheelchair users.
