Is the promotion still active?

The promotion has ended. Do you already have a Nederland Dal Vrij season ticket? The duration of your discount depends on the date you purchased Nederland Dal Vrij:

  • if you bought between 15 and 30 June 2026 you received two months of the discount;

  • if you bought between 1 and 31 July 2026 you received one month at € 49.

Nederland Dal Vrij is an ongoing season ticket and continues automatically as NS Flex Dal Vrij at the regular tariff (€ 127,95 per month for 2nd class, € 59,95 for 65+). Do you not want that? Change your season ticket in time.

How do I change my Nederland Dal Vrij season ticket?

You cannot change your season ticket within the first month. One month after your season ticket starts, you can change it at any time. If your season ticket started on 17 July, you can change it from 17 August. If you change it on 19 August, you only pay for 17 and 18 August and not for a full month.

You change your season ticket via our webshop:

  1. Go to the webshop and choose 'Change season ticket' at the top.
  2. Log in with your NS-account.
  3. In the yellow bar at the top of the page, select the season ticket you want to change (in this case: NS Flex Dal Vrij).
  4. Click the blue button 'Change'.
  5. Then choose your new season ticket, for example NS Flex Basis. With NS Flex Basis you do not pay season ticket fees and you travel without a discount. You keep the benefits of NS Flex, such as paying afterwards and use of OV-fiets and Stallen op rekening.
  6. Follow the steps and check your details.
  7. Confirm your change; the change is complete. Your change takes effect immediately.

How do I cancel Nederland Dal Vrij?

  1. Start the cancellation process and sign in with your NS account.
  2. Choose the season ticket you want to cancel: NS Flex Dal Vrij.
  3. Read what happens after you cancel and confirm your cancellation.
  4. You have now cancelled your season ticket online.
  5. Go to the NS Ticket Machine to remove the season ticket from your card. Your cancellation will then be complete and you will travel using your card balance from then on.

If you cannot or do not want to go to the NS Ticket Machine, you will keep NS Flex Basis on your card.

With NS Flex Basis you travel without discounts, you pay no season ticket fees and you still get the benefits of NS Flex.

How do I read my invoice for Nederland Dal Vrij?

Don't see the promotional price of € 49 on your invoice straight away? This can happen if you took out Nederland Dal Vrij on a different date to your regular billing date. The season ticket costs and promotional discount are then split over two billing rounds. You may receive invoices that include charges and discounts for periods both before and after your billing date. The second invoice also shows the normal price of NS Flex Dal Vrij pro rata.

If you add the 'Berekende actiekorting' amounts from both invoices, you will see the full discount you are entitled to. We charge season ticket costs in advance and bill travel costs afterwards. That is how invoicing works for NS Flex.

What is Nederland Dal Vrij?

With Nederland Dal Vrij you can travel unlimited in off-peak hours and at weekends across the Netherlands. This season ticket was available from 15 June to 31 July 2026 for € 49 per month instead of € 127,95 per month. You pay any travel costs for journeys not covered by your season ticket, and for tram, bus, metro and OV-fiets, afterwards by direct debit. All charges are clearly collected on a single monthly invoice in Mijn NS.

Can I cancel Nederland Dal Vrij at any time?

You cannot cancel Nederland Dal Vrij within the first month. From one month after the start date you can cancel your season ticket at any time. You will not have to pay again for a full month. You only pay for the days your season ticket remains active after the first month.

For example: did your season ticket start on 17 July? You can cancel from 17 August. If you cancel the season ticket on 19 August, you only pay for 17 and 18 August.

What is the difference between NS Flex Dal Vrij and Nederland Dal Vrij?

Nederland Dal Vrij is a temporary summer promotion on NS Flex Dal Vrij. The season ticket is the same, but if you ordered it between 15 June and 31 July 2026 you paid € 49 per month temporarily instead of € 127,95 per month. After the promotion the season ticket continues at the regular tariff of NS Flex Dal Vrij.

How can I switch from 2nd class to 1st class?

If you expect to travel frequently in 1st class in the coming period, you can switch class for at least one month. Order one of our NS Flex Dal Vrij season tickets for 1st class in Mijn NS. After a month you can switch back to a 2nd class season ticket.

  1. Log in to Mijn NS
  2. Go to 'Products'
  3. Click 'Change season ticket'
  4. Select your current season ticket and choose the option 'Standard 1st class travel'

Prefer to switch for one day or a few days? You can also upgrade to 1st class up to 15 minutes after you have checked in, using the NS app or Mijn NS.

  1. Log in to Mijn NS
  2. Switch to 1st class
  3. Specify the period you want to switch for
  4. Choose 'Confirm'

Why don't I see € 49 anywhere on my invoice for Nederland Dal Vrij?

If you took out Nederland Dal Vrij on a different date to your regular billing date, the season ticket price and the promotional discount are split across two invoices. The normal price of NS Flex Dal Vrij is then added pro rata on the second invoice.

That is why the promotional price of € 49 may not appear immediately on your invoice. This is normal. We spread the discount across both invoices, because we always charge season ticket costs in advance and bill any travel costs afterwards.

If you add together the amounts shown as 'Berekende actiekorting' on both invoices, you will see the full promotional discount you are entitled to for one month split across two invoices. You will not pay more than you should.
