NS in the Province of North Brabant
North Brabant faces significant challenges in the coming years: the energy transition, reducing nitrogen emissions and effective spatial planning. Livability, accessibility and the shift to sustainable mobility are also top priorities. Mobility plays a major role in the region’s development and can be part of the solution to these issues.
NS is committed to the province. We provide reliable train services and a comfortable door-to-door journey within the region. This means accessibility must match travellers’ needs and align with key societal themes such as spatial planning, accessibility and climate. That is why we have clear ambitions. We ensure fast and dependable train connections on key routes, contribute to the development of public transport hubs, offer good facilities at stations and promote more sustainable public transport. Together with the province, municipalities, other transport providers and passenger organisations, we keep residents, businesses and visitors in North Brabant on the move.
In recent years, we have made progress. For example, an Intercity train runs every ten minutes between Eindhoven and Amsterdam, and the EuroCity service runs via Breda and the High-Speed Line (HSL). Three major stations in Brabant—Breda, Eindhoven and Tilburg—have already been upgraded to meet modern standards. A development plan has started for ’s-Hertogenbosch. For Eindhoven, a MIRT study is underway to accommodate passenger growth. This study focuses on two challenges: the Eindhoven Rail Junction, aimed at expanding infrastructure to enable more trains to run, and the Multimodal Hub Eindhoven on the station's north side, addressing the bus station and bicycle parking.
Much more will happen in North Brabant in the coming years. NS is part of Brabantstad Bereikbaar, a partnership including the province, Breda, Tilburg, Eindhoven, ’s-Hertogenbosch, Helmond, Roosendaal, Oss, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management, Rijkswaterstaat, ProRail, Breda University, ANWB and NXP. Together, we work on projects to reduce congestion, improve accessibility with various transport modes and strengthen international connections.
