Expired OV-chipkaart

Has your OV-chipkaart expired or is it about to? What you need to do next depends on whether you have a season ticket. Scroll down to find out what you need to do.

OV-chipkaart with NS season ticket

If you have an OV-chipkaart with an NS season ticket on it, we will automatically send you a new card.

This does not apply if you only have an NS Flex Basic, OV-fiets subscription, Bicycle Storage on Account, or Kids Vrij on your card. In these cases, you will need to request a replacement OV-chipkaart yourself.

You may not have received our notification in time about when your OV-chipkaart expires. That is unfortunate!

What you can do now:

  1. Request a replacement OV-chipkaart at OV-chipkaart.nl.
  2. During the order, provide the number of the card you want to replace (your expired card).
  3. Pay the costs for your new card.
  4. Contact customer service. You will be reimbursed for the costs of your new OV-chipkaart by us.

OV-chipkaart without NS season ticket

Do you have a personal or anonymous OV-chipkaart without an NS season ticket? If so, you have two options: order an OV-pas via ovpay.nl or travel using your debit card.

Please note: it is not possible yet to add an NS season ticket to an OV-pas.
