Public transport strike: no NS trains all day on Wednesday 9 September
Last modified: September 03, 2026 4:29 PM
Unions have announced a nationwide public transport strike for Wednesday 9 September. As a result, no trains will be running anywhere in the Netherlands on that day. We advise you to use alternative transport.
Airportsprinter and international trains
The Airportsprinter between Amsterdam Central, Schiphol and Hoofddorp will be running as normal, four times an hour. The international trains EuroCity, EuroCity Direct, Eurostar Continental and Channel, NightJet, ICE, and the regional trains Roosendaal–Antwerp and the Liège–Aachen Drielandentrein will not be running in the Netherlands. The Journey Planner will be updated early next week at the latest.
Timetable on Thursday
We expect to resume the regular timetable on Thursday 10 September. Please do check the Journey Planner shortly before departure or enable ‘notifications’ in the NS app. Alternatively, visit ns.nl or nsinternational.com for the most up-to-date travel information on (international) trains.
Other transport operators
Please check the websites of other public transport operators to see if there are any changes to their timetables.
