Frequently asked questions about engineering work

Can I claim a refund for delays?

During planned engineering work, your journey may take longer as this is scheduled in advance. You will not receive a refund if you arrive later because of this.

You can claim a refund if your train is delayed by at least thirty minutes compared to the schedule in the Journey Planner.

Can I take my bike on an NS bus?

Unfortunately, there is no space for bicycles on NS buses.

Can I take suitcases on the NS bus?

Yes, suitcases can be stored in the luggage compartment.

Can I travel on the NS bus with a wheelchair or other mobility aid?

You cannot board the NS bus with a wheelchair or other mobility aid. We do provide an alternative: a free wheelchair taxi.

If you would like to use this service, please call NS Travel Assistance on 030 235 7822 or chat with NS Customer Service.

Can I travel for free on an NS bus?

No, that is not possible. You must have a valid ticket for replacement transport such as an NS bus. You do not pay extra for your entire journey if part of it is by NS bus.

How to check in and out
Check out at the station where you leave the train and transfer to the bus. A temporary check-in and check-out point is located near the bus. Check in again there, then check out at your destination bus stop.

If you continue your journey by train, check in again at that station.

Am I entitled to a discount if I cannot travel on my route?

No, discounts are not provided because the engineering work is planned in advance. We offer replacement transport, such as NS buses, or an alternative route.
