This weekend, the NS winter timetable applies

Last modified: January 10, 2026 2:30 PM

Today, Sunday 11 January, NS trains will be running according to the winter timetable. This may mean that you will have to change trains more often or that your journey will take longer. Trains may also be busier than usual. More information about Monday's timetable will follow later today, in order to best respond to the current weather developments. For international travel, please check the NS International website.

What does this mean for your trip?

There are two trains per hour on almost all routes. However, because the weather remains unpredictable, trains may still be cancelled despite the measures taken. Therefore, always check your journey in the Travel Planner shortly before departure and turn on the “notifications” option in the NS app.

The main adjustments for Sunday 11 January:

Fewer Intercity trains throughout the day
Amsterdam Centraal – Den Haag Centraal
Den Haag Centraal – Utrecht Centraal
Eindhoven Centraal – Sittard
Rotterdam Centraal – Utrecht Centraal
Vlissingen – Roosendaal

Fewer Sprinter trains throughout the day
Amsterdam Centraal – Almere Oostvaarders
Hoofddorp – Weesp – Hilversum – Utrecht Centraal
Uitgeest – Breukelen

Museum Train
Utrecht Centraal Station – Utrecht Maliebaan: The Museum Train to the Railway Museum is not running. You can travel by U-OV bus 8.

Are you travelling abroad? Start your trip earlier and plan extra time for a possible transfer.

Check the websites of other public transport companies to see if there are any changes to their schedules. During the winter timetable, you can visit What compensation does NS offer? for information about the validity of your ticket and any compensation you may be entitled to. NS Customer Service is very busy at the moment; please note that they are unable to offer alternative transport.

The seasons can have an impact on the railway, just like on the road or in the air. Want to know more? See: Train schedule changes
