What personal information do we use?

In the event of an emergency, we might ask for personal information, such as your contact details, to provide you with aid or accommodation during the emergency.

If you are the holder of an NS Business Card from NS Zakelijk, we will use your business contact details if possible.

What do we use your personal information for?

We use your information to provide support in the event of an emergency. If you are travelling with us and find yourself stranded due to NS, we will book you a taxi or hotel in certain specific circumstances. NS will determine when you are entitled to a taxi or hotel.

The principle for data processing is: permission

If we book you a taxi, your name and phone number will be passed on to Transvision. Transvision will allocate a taxi company and ride number. The taxi company will then transport you to the specified location. We take measures to guarantee that your privacy is not violated by only sharing information that Transvision needs to confirm a booking. If you need to spend the night somewhere as the result of an emergency, including extreme weather conditions, we will share your (contact) details with the hotel in question.

With whom do we share this information?

In case of emergency, we share personal information with Transvision and hotels. These parties are responsible for complying with the applicable rules and regulations. For more information, please go to or ask the hotel in question.

We contract third parties to provide IT services. These parties process our information solely for our own internal use, and for no other purpose. We have made agreements with these parties pertaining to the processing of personal information.

We are authorised to provide your personal information to parties outside the European Economic Area under certain circumstances. In that event, we will take suitable measures with these parties, for example by agreeing to the standard provisions required by the European Commission.

How long do we store your information?

We retain your information for as long as is necessary to support you during and after an emergency.
