Travelling with a functional disability
Information about how your data is used if you need help travelling due to a functional disability, for example if you are blind or visually impaired.
What personal data do we use?
If you have a functional disability and would like to travel by train, we will process the data necessary to facilitate your journey, including your contact details, your preferred aid, and - if relevant - information about your disability. In the case of an NS Business Card or NS Flex season ticket for the blind and visually impaired, we process the data from your OV-begeleiderskaart B, with only your name visible.
If you have an NS-Business Card from NS Zakelijk, we will use your business contact details if possible.
What do we use your personal data for?
The principle for data processing is: the execution of the agreement or permission.
We want everyone to be able to travel. That is why we provide support to travellers with a functional disability. To provide this service, we process the travel data of the traveller in question, including the preferred date and time of the journey. If we book a taxi or wheelchair taxi for you, your name and phone number will be shared with Transvision. This data is necessary to enable us to carry out the transport agreement, but we ask for your consent to process any health data. This might include when you use an NS-Business Card or NS Flex season ticket for the blind and visually impaired.
With whom do we share data?
Transvision assigns a taxi company and a ride number. The taxi company will then transport you to your desired destination. We implement measures to prevent violations of your privacy. For example, we only pass on the data Transvision needs to make a reservation. Transvision is then responsible for compliance with the applicable legislation and regulations. We contract third parties to provide IT services. These third parties process the data solely for our own internal use, and for no other purpose. We have made agreements with these parties pertaining to the processing of personal data.
We are authorised to provide your personal data to parties outside the European Economic Community under certain circumstances. In that event, we will take suitable measures with these parties, for example by agreeing to the standard provisions required by the European Commission.
How long do we store your data?
If you travel with NS, we will retain your personal data for up to 18 months after the date of the journey. The copy of your OV-Begeleiderskaart B will be destroyed after entering the reference to your customer number. You can ask NS to delete the reference at any time.
