Public Transportation Strike: No NS Trains until 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24

Last modified: June 19, 2026 12:30 PM

Unions have announced a strike across the entire public transportation system for Wednesday morning, June 24. They are protesting the government’s proposed cuts to social security. As a result, there will be no NS trains running anywhere in the country on Wednesday morning from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. For information about other trains and city and regional transit, check your transit provider’s website.

Due to the strike, NS will not be able to resume normal service until 8:00 a.m. We recommend that you postpone your trip this morning. There is also a strike in the cleaning industry, so we ask that you take your trash with you as much as possible.

Airportsprinter and International Trains
The Airportsprinter between Amsterdam Central and Schiphol is running, as are the Eurostar trains to London and Paris, but only for passengers with a reservation. The Eurocity (Direct) and ICE international trains will not be running during the strike.

We expect the journeyplanner for all NS trains to be updated by Monday morning, so you’ll be able to plan your trip with NS then. Please be aware that last-minute changes may occur. For the most up-to-date travel advice, check your trip again in the journeyplanner on Wednesday shortly before departure.

Refunds for Delays
The strike policy does not apply. This strike policy applies only if train service is unavailable for the entire day. The standard refund policy for delays remains in effect.
