Register for a free SMS alert from NS. This way you are always aware of amendments to timetables
Quickly informed about changes to timetables
When NS makes a change to the regular timetable, we want to let you know about it as quickly as possible. That is why we offer a free SMS alert.
If you register for our SMS alert, you receive a report via SMS when a change is made to a timetable. This is a national report and does not contain any specific information about the route or region. Shortly before departure you can see how the amended timetable will affect your journey in the NS Travel planner.
Registering and unsubscribing for SMS alert
You can register in 2 ways. Send AAN in an SMS to 4900 or fill in the register form online. Do you want to stop receiving SMS messages? Send UIT in an SMS to 4900 or unsubscribe via the online unsubscribe form.
If you have a foreign telephone number then it is only possible to register and unsubscribe using the online form.
Cost of registering and unsubscribing
Registering and unsubscribing for the SMS alert online is free. Are you registering or unsubscribing using your mobile phone? Then you will be charged your standard SMS rate. Receiving SMS messages is free for Dutch phone numbers, even when abroad. Foreign providers may charge you. Run out of credit? Then you can register or unsubscribe online.
When will you receive an SMS alert?
You will receive a free SMS one day in advance when we change timetables due to weather forecasts. In cases of acute disruption that affect train traffic at the national level, we also send an SMS as promptly as possible on the day itself. Shortly before departure you can see how this affects your route on the Travel planner and then change your journey if necessary.
When do you not receive an SMS alert?
You do not receive SMS alerts for regular disruptions that only affect one route, but you will receive them for disruptions with serious consequences for national train traffic. For example, a disruption caused by a switch or signal failure, or a collision. You can find this information using the Travel planner or Travel planner Xtra.
Neither do we send an SMS when engineering work is being carried out on the track. Engineering work on the track is announced well in advance on the website and via email.
Changing telephone number
You must first unsubscribe with your old telephone number, and then register with your new telephone number.
