Roger van Boxtel
Roger van Boxtel has been the CEO of NS since 1 August 2015.
Van Boxtel has extensive management experience in both the private and the public sector. He was born in Tilburg on 8 February 1954 and studied Dutch Law at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). After the completion of his studies, he held various positions, such as management consultant and interim manager. Until recently, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors at the health insurance company Menzis and D66 party leader in the Dutch Senate.
Van Boxtel's appointment as CEO at NS has been extended to August 2020.
As of 15 September 2016, Bert Groenewegen has been appointed to the post of Finance Director at NS. Bert has extensive experience in management. At PCM Uitgevers, now known as De Persgroep Nederland, he served as CFO (2005-2007) and CEO (2007-2010). In 2015, Bert continued his career as CFO at Ziggo.
As Finance Director, he is responsible for Finance, Procurement, NS IT, Accommodations and Abellio.
Marjan Rintel has worked for NS since 1 November 2014, first as Chairperson of the Board for NS Reizigers. On 15 July 2016, she was appointed Director of Operations.
After completion of her business and management studies at the University of Groningen, she started her career at Schiphol Airport where she was responsible for furnishings, provision of information and logistics in the airport building, among other things.
In 1999, Marjan continued her career at KLM in a variety of leadership positions, including KLM Vice President Hub Operations, as well as several positions at Air France KLM, including Senior Vice President Strategic Marketing, before she made her move to NS.
Tjalling Smit has been appointed the Director of Commerce & Development as of 1 April 2017. He is responsible for all NS development, sales and marketing activities.
Smit completed his education at the Higher Hotel Management School in The Hague, then went on to study Business Economics at Nyenrode in 2001. After that, he completed a Management traineeship at KLM, where he held several commercial positions, including Vice President Marketing & E-commerce at KLM subsidiary Transavia (2011-2013). In 2013, he returned to Air France KLM as the person responsible for the Middle East and India. From 2015-2017, he served as Senior Vice President Digital (2015-2017), where he was responsible for all Air France KLM online sales and services, including Social Media service.
