NS Insurance

NS Insurance is NS's non-life insurance company. Records are kept as part of the claims process. These digital and physical records may contain personal data.


What personal data do we use?

As part of the claims process, we process personal data related to the incident, such as your name, address and, if strictly necessary, health data.

The basis for data processing is: legitimate interest

In the event that NS is liable for causing damage to passengers, NS must compensate for this damage In order to assess and settle a personal injury claim, it is important to have the injured passenger's health and income data for before and after the accident. 

The principle for the processing is: compliance with a legal obligation

NS is obliged to comply with the Financial Supervision Act and the Dutch Civil Code in the event of a wrongful act and any resulting compensation and carrier liability when its passengers suffer damage.

With whom do we share data?

We use IT services provided by third parties. These third parties process our data solely for our own internal use, and for no other purpose. We have made agreements with these parties pertaining to the processing of personal data.

We are authorised to provide your personal data to parties outside the European Economic Community under certain circumstances. In that event, we will take suitable measures with these parties, for example by agreeing to the standard provisions required by the European Commission.

How long do we store your data?

We observe the legally mandated retention periods. The maximum retention period for claims processes is seven years.
