Refunds for stranded trains

The price of the journey up until when the train broke down is refunded. On this page you can read frequently asked questions about other costs and situations when part of your journey was made with another carrier.

Can I hold NS responsible for problems caused by a delay (for example, missing an examination or an important meeting)?

No, we are not responsible for the consequences of delays. However, you can request a refund.

Can I get a refund from NS when delayed if part of my route was with another carrier?

If the delay was a result of another carriers train running late, then you are not entitled to a refund as part of the NS regulation Refunds when delayed. This regulation only applies when the NS train that you have taken arrives at the destination station at least 30 minutes later than stated in the annual timetable, based on the pre-determined optimal travel route.
