OV-chip Plus to be discontinued

Starting from January 2023, you will no longer be able to travel on OV-chip Plus. Instead, you will need to check in and out of public transport yourself with an NS Flex season ticket or an NS-Business Card for people who are blind or visually impaired. This change has been coordinated with representatives of the target group. You can read more below about how checking in and out works for each type of season ticket.

NS Flex season ticket

You can opt for an NS Flex season ticket for Visually Impaired Travellers. You can use this to check in and out on all public transport services, without having to top up the balance on your OV-chipkaart. Instead, you pay monthly in arrears by direct debit, and can see your costs on your invoice in Mijn NS.

Correcting a missed check-in or check-out

If you miss a check-in or checkout, then we will correct this on the basis of your travel history. You don't have to do anything. You can correct a missed NS check-in or check-out yourself 10 times per year in Mijn NS. With other carriers, this is three times per year. You can request this through the Uitcheckgemist website.

If you have an OV-Begeleiderskaart B, you can request an NS Flex season ticket for Blind and Visually Impaired Travellers by using the form on this page. Do you have any questions? Please call NS Customer Service on 088 - 932 4387. We are available 24 hours a day.

An NS-Business Card

You can travel with the NS-Business Card, which you can request from Translink's Service Counter for the Visually Impaired using the form below. You can order the card if you have an OV-Begeleiderskaart B. You do not necessarily have to be travelling for business purposes, and a KVK number is not necessary.

With the NS-Business Card, you pay your costs by automatic deduction. This means that you do not have to maintain a card balance in order to check in and out. If something goes wrong with checking in or out, then the Service Desk for the Visually impaired will correct the missed check-in or check-out for you, both for NS and other public transport carriers.

Do you have any questions? You can find more information on the website of Translink's Service Desk for the Visually Impaired. You can also send an e-mail to serviceloket@ov-chipkaart.nl.
