How P+R parking works
Parking at a P+R site is ideal if you are continuing your journey by train. These parking lots are located near a station.
But P+R parking is for everyone. Even if you're not travelling by train.
Free P+R site
At free P+R sites, all you have to do is find a free spot and park.
Paid P+R site
Want to park your car at a paid P+R site? We recommend looking up the site first to check availability.
There is automatic number-plate recognition at all paid sites. This is how parking works:
- A camera will scan your number plate and the barrier will open.
- When you leave the site, the camera scans your number plate a second time to calculate how much you need to pay.
P+R parking discount
If you use your OV-chipkaart, NS Business Card or e-ticket for a domestic train trip on the same day, you'll get a discount on your parking session and will only have to pay € 9 for a full day.
To receive a discount, scan your OV-chipkaart or e-ticket before you pay. Regrettably, passengers travelling with their debit card are not eligible for this discount.
P+R parking charges
Most P+R sites are unguarded and free. There are about 50 paid parking lots across the country. The charges at these sites differ.
Pay after parking
Before you leave the P+R with your car, you can pay at the barrier using your debit card, credit card, mobility card, NS Business Card or OV-chipkaart with an NS Flex season ticket. If you have NS Flex, all parking sessions will be added to your invoice.
To get a discount,
scan your OV-chipkaart, NS Business Card or e-ticket before paying.
Frequently park your car at the same P+R site?
If you park at the same site frequently, apply for a parking plan with Q-park. The benefits of a parking plan include:
- a guaranteed parking spot.
- quick & easy entry and exit thanks to number-plate recognition.
- cheaper option if you park at the same P+R site three times a week or more.

How many days can I park?
If you are entitled to a discount, you will receive a discount on your parking costs for a maximum of 3 days (72 hours).

I have not received the traveller's discount
How annoying! Are you sure you were entitled to a discount? Then ask for money back via this form.

Can I pay in cash?
You cannot pay in cash at the paid P+R sites. You can pay with a Maestro debit card, Mastercard, Visa, VPay, American Express, Yellowbrick, MultiTankCard and Travelcard, up to a maximum of € 50 a time.
