OV-chip Plus season ticket
Are you visually impaired? With an OV-chip Plus season ticket, you can book your train journey on your personal OV-chipkaart by telephone or online. There is no need to check in and out while travelling. All of your booked journeys will be billed monthly. You can download invoices in Mijn NS.
OV-chip Plus is a handy season ticket for people with impaired vision. After booking, it is no longer necessary to check in and out with your OV-chipkaart. You can use your OV-chipkaart to open gates when you wish to enter or leave a station.
OV-chip Plus is valid for use in all NS trains and in Arriva, Breng, Connexxion, Qbuzz (R-net) and Syntus trains. The OV-chip Plus can be used in combination with an NS season ticket. You cannot use OV-chip Plus for bus, tram and metro services.
Requesting OV-chip Plus and loading it onto your card
You can get OV-chip Plus for free. You will need:
- a personal OV-chipkaart that is valid for at least another 8 weeks;
- an OV-Begeleiderskaart category B if you are unable to travel on public transport independently.
You can request an OV-chip Plus by filling in the application form and sending it to:

Do not forget to enclose a copy of your OV-Begeleiderskaart (B). Please allow a processing time of 2 weeks.
Loading OV-chip Plus onto your OV-chipkaart
We charge € 0.01 to your account to check your account number. You will receive an email from NS requesting that you load OV-chip Plus onto your OV-chipkaart. You only need to do this once. You can do this at the NS service desk, an NS ticket machine or another OV-chipkaart pick u point. With OV-chip Plus on your OV-chipkaart, you can no longer pay for train journeys by checking in and out.
Booking a journey
With OV-chip Plus you book your train journeys using the free phone number 0800-7245482 (available day and night) or online by logging into your NS-account in the OV-chip Plus online booking environment.
You can book a train journey from 6 months to a minimum of 5 minutes before the train departs. You can find the details of the train journey you booked in the confirmation email. The conductor will check whether you have a valid ticket by scanning your OV-chipkaart. For international travel, it is still necessary to have an international ticket. You can purchase one from NS International.
Changing or cancelling a booking
Would you like to change or cancel a booking that you have already made? You can do so using the free telephone number 0800 - 7245482 (available day and night) or by writing to NS Customer Service.
Travelling with OV-Plus and a season ticket
Do you have both OV-chip Plus and a season ticket on your OV-chipkaart? Then you can check the overview of OV-chip Plus discount percentages to see when you have to book a train journey, and what percentage discount you will get. If you purchase your train journey online, you can indicate this discount percentage so that it is taken into account when the journey fare is calculated. When booking by telephone from OV-chip Plus Customer Services (0800 – 7245482, available day and night), the discount you are entitled to is taken into account automatically. You can also book travel with Optional Days online and by telephone.
Replacing or terminating OV-chip Plus
Are you requesting a new personal OV-chipkaart, because your OV-chipkaart has been lost or stolen, or is defective or no longer valid? OV-chip Plus will automatically be loaded onto your new card. You can terminate OV-chip Plus whenever you wish by calling Customer Services on the free telephone number 0800 – 7245482.
Refunds for delays
Did you travel using OV-chip Plus and experience a delay to your journey of more than 30 minutes? Then you can submit a request for a refund to OV-chip Plus Customer Services (0800 – 7245482, available day and night) or by writing to NS Customer Services. If you travelled with the Intercity direct, then you can request a refund for a delay of 15 minutes or more. The refunded amount will be deducted from your monthly bill.
For visually impaired people who travel for their work, the NS-Business Card is a good choice. With the NS-Business Card you pay your travel costs and any season ticket fees via direct debit.
