Information about the processing of your data if you want to use an OV-fiets or use the OV-fiets app.
What personal data do we use?
If you want to use an OV-fiets, we will process, among other things, the data stated on your OV-chipkaart and transaction data. You provided this information when you purchased the OV-fiets season ticket.
Do you have or did you request an NS-Business Card from NSZakelijk? In that case, we will use your business details if possible.
To sign up for the OV-fiets app, enter the number on your OV-chipkaart and the number of the OV-fiets you are currently using or the number of the bike you used most recently. The app can also use your location data, provided you gave the app permission to do so after downloading or at a later stage.
What do we use your personal data for?
The basis for processing is: the performance of the agreement.
You need a season ticket to use OV-fiets. You can purchase this season ticket online. We use your contact details and card number for this purpose. You can link your season ticket to any personal OV-chipkaart.
The basis for processing is: justified interest.
It is in your interest and ours that we improve our services. When you rent an OV-fiets from NS, NS will aggregate and process your transaction data for marketing purposes. Doing so can help NS find the most popular rental locations, OV-fiets usage during the morning or evening rush hour, and net revenue per month. If you do not wish NS to process your transaction data for this purpose, you can unsubscribe.
The basis for processing is: permission
In order to use the OV-fiets app, we ask for your permission for the one-time use of the number on your OV-chipkaart and the number of the OV-fiets you are currently using or used most recently. We use this information to identify you. In addition, you will be asked to give the app permission to use your location data after installation. These location data can be used to show you the number of available bikes at your location or the location of your OV-fiets. You can always revoke this permission by changing the settings on your phone. If you do not give permission to use your location data or revoke this permission later, you can keep using the OV-fiets app and enter your location manually, should you prefer.
With whom do we share this data?
We contract third parties to provide IT and marketing services. These third parties process our information solely for our own internal use, and for no other purpose. We have made agreements with these parties pertaining to the processing of personal information.
We may transfer your personal information to parties outside the European Economic Area under certain circumstances. In that event, we will take suitable measures with these parties, for example by agreeing to the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission.
How long do we store your data?
We keep your personal data for up to 18 months after you use an OV-fiets.
If you use the OV-fiets app, the data you submit upon registration will be used to identify you once and once only. The data will subsequently be deleted and NS will no longer be able to access them. In the app, you can find your own OV-chipkaart number, so as to allow you to see which card the OV-fiets app is linked to. NS cannot view your location data.
